Insurance is generally a safety net for unknown losses in the future. As such, it’s rare to quickly and clearly see guaranteed gains from insurance coverage.
However, Saskatchewan Blue Cross provides a special type of coverage that isn’t available in other provinces.
When you purchase basic health coverage with Blue Cross in Saskatchewan, this includes annual coverage up to $400 per person and per practitioner of the following: chiropractic care, chiropody, podiatry, physiotherapy, clinical psychology, naturopathy, acupuncture, speech language pathology and registered massage therapy.
My family has been using the massage therapy coverage for a few years now. Whether for relaxation or rehabilitation, therapeutic massage therapy has many wellness benefits. Massage has been shown to reduce stress and anxiety, diminish pain and swelling, and improve circulation and flexibility.
In almost all cases, Blue Choice premiums are less than the amount you can claim for massage coverage. For example, a couple in their early forties, would pay $363 in premiums and be able to claim $800 of massage alone. (The chart below outlines the benefits or costs for other age categories.)
They say all good things come to an end. So, I’m unsure how long this offering will last but, while it does, it’s a great value you should consider.
Every body deserves a massage!
With insurance coverage like this, there’s no reason not to experience the positive health effects of therapeutic massage.
